Cross-Stitch Size & Fabric Calculator

Calculate the full-grid size on Aida and the fabric size including your allowance, or work backwards from a target grid size to whole stitches.

Your dimensions

Each side must resolve to 10–200 whole stitches.

Your allowance is added to all four edges. It is not a framing recommendation.

Your fabric plan

Compare fabric counts

The same stitch grid on each count: higher count makes the full grid smaller.

In this full-stitch Aida tool, count means stitches per inch. Full-grid size = stitches ÷ count × 2.54 cm. The complete grid includes empty cells; it is not the smaller rectangle containing only stitched cells.

How to read the sizes

A fixed example: 100 × 100 stitches on 14-count Aida occupy a full grid of about 18.14 × 18.14 cm, including empty cells.

Entering 5 cm extra on each side gives fabric of about 28.14 × 28.14 cm. This is an example allowance, not a recommendation.

Open the cross-stitch pattern maker and enter your calculated Aida count and width. The generator’s height follows your image’s crop proportions, so check its resulting grid; each side must stay within 10–200 stitches.
