How to make a cross-stitch pattern from an image

  1. Choose and crop. Open a JPEG, PNG or static WebP, or try the cat. A clear subject and simple background make details easier to follow.
  2. Set your stitches and fabric. Choose 11, 14, 16 or 18-count Aida and set the width in stitches or centimeters. The grid supports 10–200 stitches per side.
  3. Compare and edit. Generate three color limits, inspect the pattern, then paint, erase or remove edge-connected background. Undo restores an edit.
  4. Save and print. Download a JSON project to continue later, a PNG preview, or a paged symbol-chart PDF with the color key.

Only full stitches are supported. Counts describe individual stitches, not thread lengths or skeins; add your own fabric margins. Colors are generic demonstrations, not brand purchasing codes. Images are processed locally and projects are not saved automatically.

Read each PDF symbol against the color key. The chart is enlarged for reading; its printed squares do not determine the fabric size. Follow global row and column coordinates across pages. White cells contain material; blank cells do not. These demonstration colors are not brand codes. Physical materials, printing and board fit have not been validated.
